A new month brings a new item for our classroom tree.  The apples came down and went home and now we are sporting crows! I think they turned out adorable...please peek in the preschool room to check them out.  I love the fact that the eyes aren't straight, some wings are backwards (or missing) and that we have a couple albino crows.  These are all things that make preschoolers art my favorite kind!!!
We sponge painted our crows with what Micheal's called black, washable paint...which I found neither of which to be true!! I apologize if you have little gray...I mean black fingers still.  I think today (Thursday) I am finally paint free!  I'm digressing here, sorry...I found this genius idea online at pickelbums that I thought would be perfect to paint our crows. She took clothes pins and clipped them on to the sponges, less mess for little fingers!  It worked great and the kids had fun.  It was still a little messy, hence the reason for no pictures on this event...this was a "all hands on deck" project for sure!
Our other focus today was literacy.  We have been in school for 4 weeks now, I thought is was time we refreshed all our letters and worked on our letter writing.  I found these letters on Craft Jr., stuck them in a sheet protector and let them trace the letters with dry erase crayons (yes dry erase crayons, Crayola makes them, can you say....heaven sent?!)

When the crayons lots excitement some moved to pumpkins...which works too!
These are great if you want to print the letters of their name out and have them do this at home.  This is a great way to start those hands moving in the right direction.  (Just one piece of advise: always have your children start their letters from the top, that is something they stress in school, so much that there are several little jingles about it! Really, google it!)
Somebody was missing mom so Teacher Jake stepped in and read her a book about Dinos! I couldn't ask for a better assistant!!

This sensory table is messy but with the help of the kids it make is worth it! The kids are all doing so well on their jobs.  Even helping one another with each others jobs. Love it!
