First Day of School...

What do I say about the first day of school...there wasn't a single fight, not a single tantrum and for the most part everyone did what Miss Kelli asked :)!
Here are few of the days highlights:
We introduced our Theme Board for the month,  All of the items will be the same for the month of September except for the letter.  The letter will change each week.  We sang our 'A' song...The 'a' Says aaa.  Ask you're kiddos to sing it to you...I'm crossing my fingers we sang it enough that they will be able to!  Don't know about them but I've had it stuck in my head all week...lucky me!
Today's Centers:
Art: Coloring an apple and cutting it up to make a puzzle (developing fine motor skills)
Dramatic Play: Play time at the kitchen and dressups (building imagination)
Writing & Literacy: Tracing shapes and lines (strengthening literacy skills)

look at those mad cutting skills!!! :) Love it!
Today during reading time we learned about Johnny Appleseed.  We learned how he planted apple trees everywhere he went beacuse he never wanted anyone to go hungry.  He was a kind man and always shared everything he had.  For Johnny Appleseed our art project today was apples.  My tree was lookin' a little baron and needed some colors.  I could not be happier with the kids decor!!
I gave them each a red circle (yeah did you catch that...more theme reinforcement!!), some tissue paper, one leaf, one steam and a cup of glue and sent them to work...

It was a great day, I was happy that the kids seemed to have had a fun day.  It's just the beginning of a fun year with these great kids!
