Week 27: Ww is for Watermelon Seeds

Sorry I sat down to do this weeks and realized I hadn't done last week...OOPS!

Ok so maybe these are weak watermelon "seeds"...but all I could find at the store were seedless watermelons so we improvised :)! You got the picture right!?!  And we were lucky enough that we could spend some much deserved time in the sunshine and we painted our letters on the wall and it was very fun...

 ..."painting" the wall...
...So nice we got to bring out the bubbles too...
Here we are eating our watermelon!! So glad it was nice to be able to do this outside :)! Watermelon is always on the messy side...
Love these little peanuts :)

They did pretty good at figuring out which pictures start with V and which didn't!!
Free time...matching letters and playing puzzles :)

Week 24: Uu is For Umbrella

I'm a week behind...I know, I know!!
But what a fun week we had! It was so nice out, that we had a picnic and the kids played mechanic and "pumped" up each others bike tires and gave them gas...it was adorable.
But we also talked about the letter U and made our little umbrella pictures! The kids needed some outside time and I did too...

Look at these faces...do preschoolers get any cuter :)!?!?

Week 23: Tt is for Tissue paper

Kids love to rip stuff!! Give them lots of tissue paper and tell me they can tear it up as much as they want and they are in heaven...

We had fun playing with model clay today, there was lots of worm families created and one of the kids even spelled out my name for me...CUTE!
This month we'll be talking about rain! We talked about what rain is good for and will be talking about how it is created and why it is created.  Today we got out our rain packet, which included matching, finishing the patterns, matching colors to their words and little puzzles.  It's a fun little unit!
I hope your little beans are growing and looking good :)!!
PS- So there is a slight change in our schedule.  I was off a week on Easter...? So next week we will do Letter Uu, then Easter, then Vv.  Just a small change for those of you that like to follow along and leave letter notes in your kids' lunch box...LOVE IT!!

Week 22: Ss is for Stickers...Shiny Stickers :)

What is it about kids and stickers...something is almost magical about stickers when you are a kid.  They are a great reward, they are fun to play with and you love to give them to your friends! And these SHINY, STICKERS of things that live under the SEA were a perfect a addition to our letter S!

Oh Mr. Sun, sun, Mr. Golden Sun, please Shine down on me!!
This month we have been talking about farms and gardens and so today we planted some "seeds" (ok they are really beans but beans didn't start with S ;)!!) in our greenhouses.  Be sure to hang them up in a sunny window so the beans will grow! I got the adorable Greenhouse idea and template from a cute blog, My Warriors! I'm so glad there are creative people out there!!!

Today I sent home our shape books.  We have been working on these this month when we have an extra minute because we have also been talking a lot about our shapes.

If your curious about why I have a picture of a chip...it's because this made me happy while I was eating them: one of the kids said, "your chips are an hexagon cuz they have 6 sides!!!"  It melts my heart when they talk all smart!!

Ready for story time...Hey, do you see a new little face here :)? This is our new friend that will be joining us for the rest of the year! We are lucky to have another boy with all these girls!

 Rocket making adventure...
The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout...I love the faces kids make :)!!!

Week 20: Qq is for q-tips

So I just realized why on last weeks why I never hit "publish" it was becuase I didn't finish it...hahaha...so if you want to finish reading about the letter P click here!! Sorry!!

Letter Qq...Q is a hard letter, not a lot of nouns that start with Q and kids have a hard time hearing the difference between Q and C/K.  I tried really hard to show them the difference in how our lips move when we say quack or crack...very similar words however our mouths move differently.  Something they will master someday, I didn't expect them to get it now!!

We did Q-Tip painting for our letter Q this week...

Music time :).  5 Little Monkeys and 5 Little Ducks...someone looks tired!!
My ABC Helper found only 3 things in our ABC bag. A quilt, a queen and a quarter!

Thursday we made flowers out of q-tips and then talked about flowers.  We played this game, what does a flower need to grow.  We also looked at different kinds of flowers (thankfully it was just my birthday so I had some to show!)
These were fun little flowers! I thought they turned out cute!
We also started our shape books.  We have been talking about shapes and about colors, so we started these little books this week and we will finish them over the next couple weeks when we have time to work on them. Today I saw lots of pink :)
Here we are at our closing circle time, Do As I'm Doing...and Lady Bug Math!!

Week 19: Pp is for Popcorn

Ooops this got typed up but I guess I never hit "publish"...sorry :)!

Happy birthday to this little man!  And this is the last of our birthdays, I can't believe everyone's birthdays were all wrapped up in a couple months!
So this week was the letter Pp...P is for puzzles, pony, pigs, puppies, Popsicle sticks, yes that's a baked potato (left overs from last night!!) and pumpkin.
P is also for popcorn!!!
We (all THREE kids) got to make our very own popcorn!  I let them each do one of the steps (yes my daughter is still in her PJs...don't ask!), then we sat back and let Miss Kelli do the cooking part!

Here is our "popcorn" trees.  We talked about and looked at pictures of "popcorn" trees.  We talked about how it's not really popcorn...they are really blossoms but look a lot like popcorn!!  And we of course sang, Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree :)

Week 17: Valentines Day

What a fun week of Valentines!! Tuesday we made our mailboxes which turned out adorable!!
 We played our Valentines Bingo...
We made our Valentines necklaces! I told them they could keep them or give them to their moms, dads or a sibling for Valentines.  Just about all of them opted to give them to each other :)!! It was cute!
Thursday for our party, we played lots of games, passed out Valentines, had treats and read lots of Valentines books.

This was my favorite game.  It was fun! It's called "I love people who..." So whoever is it, they say I love people who are...wearing blue, or I love people how are wearing socks, or who are 5, etc...and whoever it applies to gets up and has to find a new chair.  Whoever is left sanding, is it! I think this might be a game we play more often, the kids liked it and it's good to get them thinking and being creative.
