P is for photo shoot...

Me and my toys had a little photo shoot the other morning.  I'm sure my neighbor thought I was crazy...out in the backyard taking pictures of toys.  What a silly thing to do!!

I loved how Jen at iHeart Organizing made labels for all her toy buckets.  I didn't want clear buckets because I was going for a cleaner look in my small space but I also want the kids to know what's in every toy bucket so here was the perfect solution. 

I was very happy how they turned out! And my toys loved feeling like celebrities for a day! I'm sure of it!

m is for makeover...

I got these awesome shelves from my fav store, IKEA thanks to my awesome Mom, TERRI! But they needed a little somem' somem'! I had this little bench (a hand-me-down from my sister :( before she moved FAR AWAY!) so I threw that in there but it needed a little TLC.  I sanded it down, ran to Home Depot found some white spray paint and grabbed some shelving while I was there.  I of course do not own a single power tool...no really not a ONE!! So I batted my eyes at this sweet old man and asked him to cut them down to size for me. (What is that you say? They will cut anything for anyone? I didn't have to waste an eye bat?!? Oh well...)
When we were at Ikea we found the perfect lil' chicky fabric and some cute little paper holders to add some accent colors.
My inspiration came from this cool blog Iheart Organizing. And yes I did make little labels like hers too!! Stay tuned for the toy photo shoot!

Here it is all put together. And some weird kid hanging out!! The mirror still needs to be hung...but I couldn't be happier! Oh yeah and now I need two more red tubes...guess I have to go back to Ikea...BUMMER!

c is for cuteness...

I was a busy girl today and finished my tree wall.  I first outlined the  tree with a small paintbrush and then filled it in.  After it dried I cut out a bunch of cute leaves to add to it.  The idea behind my tree is that every month I will have the kids do a different project to hang on the tree.  For example in September they will make apples, October they can hang their pumpkin projects etc...
I couldn't be happier with my tree.  I think it's even cuter than the $200 Pottery Barn tree.  Oh yeah and it was cheaper too...guess how much this bad boy cost me...2 bucks! Yes you read that right $2 whoppin' dollars!
All you need is less than 2 hours of time, acrylic brown paint ($2), a paintbrush (I just used my same brush I painted my kitchen with and then a little craft brush for the small places) and then some Acrylic gloss finishing spray ($?, I've had this can forever, I have no idea what I paid for it!!).  If you wanted paper leaves I think I used 5 pieces of 12 x 12 otherwise if you wanted painted leaves then you will need some green paint as well.  If you want to see an easy way to do the leaves
check out my sister-in-laws blog.  She did cute leaves!! (FYI-I did mine a little different, I used just one color of paint and I didn't use tape, I braved it and freehanded.)
And my lil' chickadees sign is peeking through so I thought I'd add a snapshot of that too.  My very talented and very generous sister Sheri cut this adorable vinyl for me.  It turned out perfect.  It was just what I had in mind!

Decisions, Decisions...

After contemplating what to do with our little Spencer next year, I decided to throw teaching preschool into the mix! Spencer misses the cutoff date by 6 days and to try and have him tested is $175 with NO guarantee that he will get in.  In fact he has to pass the testing with a 97%! Ouch! Not that I think my little Spencey isn't smart but I thought of another plan!
After visiting with my cousin Kerstin in Idaho and sneaking a peek of her preschool room, I thought I can do this!  With a little rearranging of rooms, a little bit of money and a whole lot of commitment, I can do this!
When I would come home for the summer from BYUH, I use to work in a kindergarten classroom and I loved it, it was so much fun.  That lead me to teaching preschool after Mike and I got married.

So today was "demolition day" I started my room and I am excited for the transformation to begin!!! Now I just need to find some lil' chickadees to join me in my adventure! I forgot to take a picture before I started but here we are midway!
