Aa is for Airplane

This is our ABC bag.  Each Tuesday it is filled with things that start with our letter of the week.  So this week it had an apple, airplane, astronaut and lots of books that started with an A.
Here are 2 airplanes we made...the kids had fun flying them all around :)!
Do you ever have this conversation with your preschooler..."What did you do today?" "I don't know"...well if your curious, here is our day in a nutshell:
9am-Our day begins with our workbooks, where we stay & wait for all our friends to arrive!

9:20-Sing Hello Song, assign our weeks jobs (which we just started this week), open our ABC bag, talk about what's on our theme board, have share time (we take turns telling what we did over the weekend...the kids love to share! And I'm always amazed what you guys do on your weekends!! Swim with mermaids and fly airplanes...WOW you guys are fun ;)!! We also do our calendar. I don't care what the date is or the day of the week or month for that matter...I use calendar time strictly for number recognition and counting! It is a great way to show them the numbers and a fun way to get them counting! Then we always finish off circle time with a book we found in our ABC bag.

9:40-Free time, they can do a table activity, play outside or in the playroom...it's their time to do whatever they want!!

10:05-Table time. This is where we do an art project, work on our writing...whatever hands on activity I have planned takes place here! Then while I'm cleaning up the table mess, they clean up toys from free time and when everyone is done, we stop for a quick snack & water break before we sing our hearts out!

10:30-Music Time! We just get silly! We sing songs that get us moving, that get our wiggles out and songs that have to do with the theme of the month or the letter of the week!

10:50-Once all our sillies are out, we do math or science. This sometimes is in the form of a game or another song...sometimes it is reading a number book or some type of experiment.

11:10-The kids highlight of their day...L U N C H! They ask about lunch time at least 3X a day...everyone loves to eat :)!!

11:30-Job check (make sure everyone has done their jobs for the day), Good-bye song, book and then outside we go for the last 10-15 mins depending on our day (and when the rain and cold sets in, we find other inside things to do!!)

And that's our fun & crazy day in a nutshell :)

Week 3

This year I created a shelf specific to center time activities.  I always had all these fun games and supplies tucked away in a tub the kids couldn't see!  This year I decided to put it all out so it is visible to the kids and not out of site out of mind!!  Everything on this shelf, the kids know they have to ask miss Kelli to use but they can us anything on it during our centers time! Well the girls discovered the stamps and I had a hard time prying them away from them to move on to music :)!!

Have I ever mentioned how much fun we have during music time!?!?  The kids are so animated and their little personalities just come out! Above they are singing If You're Happy and You Know It, with a few different verses I added since we are talking about our emotions and feelings this month!
Aa is for apple stamps!

Loving this warm weather!!

"I feel____when I___."  More talking about those feelings and emotions.

Week 4 highlights: A is for Alexander and the Horrible, Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Poor Alexander had a very horrible, terrible, no good, very bad day.  The Dentist told him he had a cavity, he made invisible art that his teacher didn't like, he left out the number 16...poor kid.  So we made sure we didn't forget about the number 16, we made sure we were brushing our teeth good and we revealed Alexanders invisible art!

From left to right: Apple stamping the letter A, making the letter A with sticks, revealing the invisible art and our focus board for the month (however the letter and theme change weekly. And the themes this year aren't as much as a theme as they are going to be site words :)!!)
Sorry for the blurry pictures...but it's impossible to get a good pic when they are all moving so quickly with their scarves.  This is the best music time activity, it really tires them out ;)!
Don't forget 16!!
